Julian Tear

Julian Tear’s professional career began after completing his
studies at Well’s Cathedral School and the Guildhall School of
Music and Drama in 1983, where he was winner of the gold medal.
Since then he has combined a career as both soloist and chamber
musician and appears regularly with many of London‘s leading
chamber orchestras. He has led the Bournemouth
Sinfonietta and was a member of the Academy of St.
Martin-in-the-Fields for twelve years. He is associate leader of the
Britten Sinfonia and frequently appears as guest leader of the Royal
Liverpool Philharmonic. Julian has also made solo appearances with a
number of orchestras including the Britten Sinfonia and the Academy
and has appeared in chamber music recitals at venues such as the
Wigmore Hall and the Bath Festival. He is leader of the City of Oxford Orchestra
