Nunc Dimittis
Choir
'Maxim formed these singers into
a supple chorus, floating aloft and astonishingly powerful.'

Nunc Dimittis was formed in 2000 by
Benjamin Bevan and Juliet Schiemann. The choir is unique in that it
is a group of young soloists who are establishing themselves at the
forefront of European music making but who also have had a choral
background. All the singers have sung for leading vocal ensembles
but now have branched out into opera and oratorio work on some of
Europe’s premier stages. The combined experience ranges from solo
baroque recordings to main roles at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden,
Scottish Opera, De Vlaamse Oper and l’Opera de Lausanne.
All solos are taken from within the group and
are shared out so that the audience can hear the wide range of
talent that makes up this most extraordinary vocal ensemble.
Nunc Dimittis first sang with COO in 2001 and
are undoubtedly the best choir with whom the orchestra has ever
worked. They have received consistently outstanding reviews each
time they appear.
‘The Nunc Dimittis hallmark – that merger
of an extroverted vigour with an unmistakable control.’ Oxford
